AAU Grand Nationals is the oldest wrestling tournament in the world. It includes competition in freestyle, Greco-Roman and folkstyle wrestling, for athletes ranging in ages from 6 and under to 66 and over. At its peak, the tournament averaged 2,000 athletes competing. It is an all-inclusive, three-style national championship for all ages.
Exemplary AAU medals will be awarded for the top six (6) place winners, as well as Sportsmanship Awards, Outstanding Wrestler Awards, Fastest Pin Awards, Triple Crown Awards, the AAU Wrestling National Championship Belt Series and Team Trophies! This year will also see the addition of a Women's Division!
After attending AAU Grand Nationals previously, former Mt. Crest High School Wrestling Coach Davie Swenson said, "I'm grateful that we [went] to Grand Nationals. One of my wrestlers had 24 matches ... that's a whole season's worth of mat time. What a great deal!"
